Suggest Treatment For Swollen Thyroid Nodules With Normal Thyroid Level

hello,

I am a 38 y.o. female experiencing ++fatigue, dysmennorhea; irregular heavy prolonged periods; excessive cramping.

I had a pelvic u/s done & noted to have a right simple cyst along with signs of endometriosis & adenomyosis.

Also had a repeat thyroid u/s (as i have an enlarged thyroid) & noted to have 2 cysts (approx 8cm in size); these have grown in the last 6 mos; normal thyroid levels.

My GP is sending me to a gyne & told me not to worry about the thyroid since my levels are within the normal range; however I am a bit concerned re: the increase in size of nodules & wondering if/should anything else be done....

please advise

thx

Hi, dear
I have gone through your question. I can understand your concern.

You have enlarged thyroid with normal thyroid hormones level. Your USG suggest cyst in thyroid. Most probably you have benign cystic nodule or cystic degeneration in multinodular goitre. Rarely it can be cystic papillary carcinoma of thyroid. You should go for FNAC of thyroid once. If it is normal then nothing to worry.

Your heavy prolonged bleeding is due to endometriosis and adenomyosis. Plan according to your doctor's advice.

Hope I have answered your question. If you have any doubts then feel free to ask me. I will be happy to answer.
