Suggest Treatment For Swollen Cervical Lymph Nodes

Q. Hi,My name is Godene, 35 yr old male. I have have swollen deep cervical lymph nodes for more than 16 yrs, whenever I get a cold or sorethroat they swell more and become painful. I also have a geographical tongue which has been there for the same period and keeps flaring uo now and then. Could the migratory nature of the geographic tongue explain the persistent and painful lymph nodes i have? Thank you

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The swollen lymph nodes are usually related to an infection in the system. The geographic tongue and be the cause. I suggest using anti inflammatory medications such as Acetaminophen in case of pain and inflammation. The lymph nodes will clear up after treating the infection.

Hope my answer was helpful. If you have further queries feel free to contact me again.
