Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Suggest Treatment For Swollen Ankles And Frequent Urination
My husband has a swollen right ankle/top of foot and frequent urination. He has had 2 heart attacks but denies any other symptoms--no fatigue or heart symptoms. He has no cough. He does seem short of breath after climbing one flight of stairs, but this resolves shortly. While he sleeps he often sounds like he has forced expiration. He has no pain. He takes medicine for BPH. What would be the symptoms of congestive heart failure?
Thanks for your question on Healthcare Magic. I can understand your concern. His symptoms (shortness of breath on exertion, swollen ankles) are suggestive of congestive heart failure. His symptom of increase frequency of urination is mostly due to BPH. So better to consult cardiologist and get done blood pressure monitoring, ecg and 2d echo. He will need diuretics and other cardiac supportive drugs. For BPH, he may need surgery also. Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wishing good health to your husband. Thanks.
