By early afternoon the inside of my lips feel swollen, especially the upper and I start pushing my tongue into my bottom teeth over & over.I do sleep with my mouth open at night. I am female, age 76, and weight 138 and am 5 3 tall. I have a pacemaker since 7/10. Am on BP medication, Chlosterol meds, blood thinner and Dilantin. Had many mini blackouts 3 year ago, but no longer.

ENT Specialist 's  Response
Hi,

You are having obstructive sleep apnea due to thickened muscles in the throat. You are having mouth breathing. Loose some weight. Avoid spicy fatty food. Take nasal saline spray to make nasal breathing easy. Control hypertension. Can make some light exercise and nasal breathing exercise which can help in decreasing the obstructive sleep apnea.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Rajat Basak, ENT Specialist
