Suggest Treatment For Swelling In The Eye Due To A Fall

I fell sideways off my bike, because I didn't put my feet down quick enough. I have a large lump on my left eyebrow bone, and large bruising over the corner of my eye that spreads up to my eyebrow. My eye is really swollen. I put ice on it, what else can I do? How long do you think my eye area will be swollen? Also, if there is a fee for this, please disregard my question.

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have swelling in the eye due to a fall. Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like inflammation , hematoma or infection after injury . I would suggest you to apply ice or cold packs for 15 minutes 3 or 4 times a day during the first 48 hours after the injury , after the swelling goes down, warm compresses may help relieve pain , keep your head elevated to help reduce swelling and take acetaminophen or ibuprofen to relieve pain. If condition doesn't get well then consult ophthalmologist . Doctor will examine physically or order CT scan . Doctor may refer you to general surgeon for surgery or drainage of hematoma .

Hope your concern has been resolved.
