Suggest Treatment For Strep Throat

Was diagnosed with strep throat yesterday. Haven taken 3 augmentin since being diagnosed. Fever is gone but still don't feel well. Extremely nauseated and tired. Been in bed all day. Thrown up once. Cannot eat or drink. Throat is not that sore. How long should I wait before contacting my doctor?

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of strep throat which seems to be due to bacterial infection of upper respiratory tract. Need not to worry. I would suggest you to start with betadine gargles 2-3 times a day. Avoid hot, sharp , spicy food substances and carbonated beverages. Maintain complete oral hygiene and take milk with a pinch of turmeric boiled in it. Avoid large meals at a time and take small and frequent meals as it might be due to production of acid in stomach. You should keep sipping warm water. Consult ENT specialist for proper diagnosis and rule out condition like viral infection . Doctor may prescribe antibiotics along with decongestants and anti inflammatory medications.

Hope your concern has been resolved.

Best Wishes,
