Suggest Treatment For Strep Throat

I m a 40 year old female and I recently took antibiotics for strep throat. I ended my treatment but I now have sore gums and they are peeling and very painful. Could it be due to the Penicillin I took? Should I see a doctor or will it likely clear up on its own?

Hi..
Thanks for the query..

It looks like the sore and peeling gums can be due to gum infection or a side effect of the medication that you have taken..

It can also be due to a condition known as Trench mouth..

So my suggestion is to consult an Oral Physician and get evaluated and a clinical examination can be done followed by a full mouth x ray to rule out the exact cause of the symptoms..

For now you can start doing warm saline gargles, antiseptic mouthwash gargles, use gum paint to massage over the gums and chew a Vitamin C pellet daily..

Hope this helps..

Regards.
