Suggest Treatment For Stiff Neck And Fever

I was feeling really off for the last 4 weeks. Then 4 days ago I woke up with a stiff neck, pain under both arms (like sore muscle pain), chills, fatigue, low grade fever, pain in mid-back, lower back, abdomen pain, no appetite. I bent over to pick something up and I had a sharp shooting pain under my ribs (took my breath away) - this happened a couple times. I went to the doctor and they did a urine test which confirmed kidney infection. The doctor prescribed medicine which I ve been taking for 4 days now. I feel a little better (less pain but still have pain/discomfort). The doctor took a blood test yesterday and will get results back in 2 days. I m wondering if I should go to the hospital and get the meds through IV or wait a few days. Since I ve probably had this for almost 4 weeks, I m concerned about damaging my kidneys.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

The underlying urinary tract infection with stiff neck and fever may alarm one to think about Neisseria meningitis possibility via underlying mechanics of toxicity of the urology infection.

It is strongly recommended to consult in the ER without any delay for intravenous therapy and supportive care to control the situation in the best possible manner.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
