Suggest Treatment For Spotting For Some Days Followed By Heavy Bleeding
Hello, I am a 44 year old female and have had periods like clockwork for many years. A couple months ago I was having issues with spotting for about 10 days off and on then I had very heavy bleeding. I was given hormones to stop the bleeding because it was so heavy. I presented myself to the emergency room and they did a transvaginal ultrasound. Since I do not have insurance I have not been able to follow up. I was told I had a fibroid tumor by the ER physician, so naturally I m worried. I just got my report from the hospital from the ultrasound to give to my new doctor and it says: PT heavy bleeding still. Uterus and endometrium somewhat homogeneous making endometrium difficult to see. No IUP seen. No adrenal masses seen. Two nabothian cysts largest - 8 MM no FF in CUL-DE-Sac. Two RT ovarian cysts Largest = 2.7 CM and there were a few small hypoechotic areas in the uterus with not blood flow, the largest being 1.4 cm. The Left ovary was not seen. I was not so much concerned about the ovarian cycsts as I was the uterine areas because I was told I had tumors on my uterus. Could you please tell me if I need to be concerned?
The ultrasound report is pretty normal. Fibroids are benign tumors of the uterus and seen in >50-60% women of reproductive age group. The chances of it turning into cancer are very rare. Only when fibroids cause any problem such as heavy bleeding, pain, causing obstruction to other organs or infertility, then it needs to be treated.
