Suggest Treatment For Sore Throat

Hello, my back left tonsil behind my tongue is black and green and it hurts to swallow. This happened Sunday morning when I woke up with a dry mouth and having a hard time swallowing followed with a runny nose. I don t have a runny nose, now it s just the sore throat. Is this strep?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

It is nothing but inflammation of pharynx or pharyngitis. Consult a general practitioner and start a short course of antibiotics preferably amoxclav.

Do warm saline gargles for symptomatic relief. If symptoms persist better to consult an ENT specialist and get evaluated.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
