Suggest Treatment For Sore Throat

My friend is experiencing a sore throat on the left side of her throat---she says it almost feels like a gland---it appears swelling is increasing and she is having a hard time swallowing---and is periodically coughing--- she went to a clinic today where they prescribed lidocane to gargle--she is also taking claritin---I have applied warm compress to her throat--she is also gargling salt water---none of this seems to be helping--and it seems to be getting worse

Hello dear I understand your concern
Sore throat is due to either viral of bacterial infections.
Tonsillitis can be rule out by consulting the ENT suegron.
Take following advises:
Take tablet azithromycine 500 mg once daily for 5 days.
Tablet ibuprufen 400 mg three times a day.
Do gargle with 2 % betadine solution.
Avoid cold beverages.
Do steam inhalation. Drink plenty of lukewarm water.
Take soft diet like banana, rice, and applesauce.
It will resolves gradually in 5-7 days.
also continue your treatment.
