Suggest Treatment For Sore Throat Caused After Taking Glycomet SR 500
Hello Doctor, I have PCOS and my doctor has prescribed me with Glycomet SR 500 and reshape 60mg for cholestrol. I have had GERD and undergone laproscopic Fundoplication 8 years back. Not much of problem after the surgery. Since I m taking all these medicines I m getting sore throat. I doubt if that is because of the acid thats disturbing my throat. Do I have to ask for antacid like zinetac from my doctor? can you prescribe me one?

Glycomet SR 500 & reshape 60 has nothing to do with sore throat. GERD can cause acid reflux in throat to cause soreness. There would be acidic taste also.
You could take omeprazole 20 mg empty stomach in the morning daily for 2 weeks. Donot lay down immediately after eating. A slight walk would also helps to reduce GERD.
Salt Water Gargle can also be done. Mix 1 tsp of salt with warm water in a glass. Gargle for roughly 15-20 seconds and spit out. You can repeat this as needed for 2-3 days. Remember to spit the water rather swallowing it.
