Suggest Treatment For Sore Throat And Bad Breath

Hi! Thank you so much for your time in advance. I started with a bad odor in my mouth about two months ago but did not think anything of it. At a regular dentist check-up I happened to mention the problem to him and he saw what he thought to be food caught behind my tonsil. He told me to rinse with salt water and if it didn't improve I needed to contact an ENT. Well, I rinsed with the salt water for about a day but did not stick with it because I had no pain and the odor was not overwhelming. About two weeks ago I started with normal cold symptoms. My doctor called in a Z-pack for me, but the symptoms did not go away as they usually do with my sinus infections (they happen a lot for me). I had also started feeling a different type of pain on the left side of my throat than my normal sore throat from a sinus drip so I went in to see my doctor. He seemed to agree with the dentist and put me on Nexium telling me I should see significant improvement by the end of the week. I didn't, and it got worse. There was also a very large white spot on my left tonsil, and it was extremely sensitive. I saw an ENT a week ago today. After examining me he told me that I had a serious bacterial infection on my left tonsil. He said assuming the odor was from the infection, I had probably had the infection for two months. He still does not know why I had no pain or fever. The white spot that I thought was food was actually an ulcer with a scab on it which he pulled out in the appointment. He wanted to put me on penicillin, but I am allergic, so he put me on Clindamycin (generic for Cleocin). It is now a week later, and I still have signficant pain. Although the large white spot is gone, I have several smaller ones now, and they are accompanied by what appears to be blisters. It has also spread to the right side, but the pain is still localized to the left side. Any advice or ideas of what this could be would be much appreciated. Thank you so much again for your time.
