Brief Answer:
Considerations.

Detailed Answer:
hello and thank you for sending the question.

Since you developed diarrhea while taking this antibiotic I would not recommend that you take Imodium until you talk to your primary care physician.

The concern is that this type of antibiotic can cause an infection called C diff or Clostridium Difficile. this type of infection causes significant diarrhea. We generally don't recommend the use of Imodium if this is the case because bacteria creates a toxin which we would want you to eliminate from your body. The Imodium does not allow for your body to clear the toxin.

I would recommend that you contact your primary care doctor to talk about changing your prescription or possibly testing you for C Diff before considering the use of Imodium.

Thank you again for sending the question.

Sincerely,

Dr. Galamaga
