Suggest Treatment For Sinus Bradycardia While Treating Lyme Disease
My son was diagnosed with Lyme s disease several months ago. His heart rate has been low on several appointments and his blood pressure has been low on occasion. Do to concerns of Lyme carditis, the PCP requested an EKG. Test results came back with sinus bradycardia otherwise normal EKG. My son is a teenager and had been fairly active before being diagnosed, but really has not been since. I know bradycardia can be normal in young people and athletes. My question is how can we tell if this is normal bradycardia or a sign of inflammation on his heart as a result of chronic Lyme Disease?

Consult a cardiologist and get evaluated. Serial EKG monitoring is required to make a diagnosis. In most cases no treatment is needed. It heart rate is too low, drugs like atropine may be required.
