My 13 yr old daughter injured her knee about 1 yr ago while playing basketball , it has hurt her on & off this whole time... Reports of a stabbing ,sharp pain on both sides of her knee cap & lately also above her knee... We have seen Dr. & physical therapy fit her for a knee brace that helps some, but everyday she is in a lot of pain after school sports , it also makes a grinding when bent more than 90 degree angel.... She does ice it & takes NSID... PLEASE HELP ME UNDERSTAND WHAT IS REALLY WRONG with her

Hi
Welcome to healhcaremagic
After going through your query I concluded that your daughter got probably meniscus injury as it was occurred due to playing games and cracking sounds heard during movements. It needs MRI for confirmation. It may require operation intervention by arthroscopic surgery. Quadriceps excercises and analgesic such as ibuprofen are helpful non operative treatment. You can discuss your doctor about it. Hope your query get answered. If you have any clarification then please don't hesitate to write to us. I will be happy to answer your queries.
