Hello Welcome to HCM

Paxil is paroxetine and is a SSRI drug. You were on 40 mg per day and the dose halved in a week and then stopped in next one week. Abrupt stoppage of drug over just two weeks has caused the withdrawal syndrome. The medicine should have been withdrawn over 4-6 weeks to prevent withdrawal syndrome. Doses should be decreased about 20% per weeks and should be stopped after 6-8 weeks. Due to withdrawal syndrome the doctors have advised to start medicine again with low dose of 10 mg per day. This is a good option to prevent more withdrawal symptoms. If you don't want to take medicine then you can stop the medicine when your withdrawal symptoms improve. Hope this helps you.

Thanks
