Suggest Treatment For Severe Vomiting In An Elderly Person While On Omeprazole
My 88 yr old mother is in a Nursing home with alzheimers. She is being treated with Pcn for a UTI. Before tx begain she had episode of vomiting, that was one week ago Since then she has eaten very little. Is drinking some mostly chocolate milk. They increase her omeprazole 20mg to bid. She vomited again today. She will tell u that her stomach hurts and places her hand to epigastic region. She will take a few bites then she wont eat. Is this part of disease process with alzheimers . She has become weaker. We wouldn t put her through surgery. But would a KUB give us any answers. Her stools are different. LIke round balls, similar to a pea. They have always been loose before.

Suggest Treatment For Severe Vomiting In An Elderly Person While On Omeprazole
Hello, I think she may need to take Reglan or promethazine for vomiting and if it doesn t get better you can even use Zofran for vomiting. The stools are pea-like because she isn t feeling well due to vomiting. She may need to increase food intake to have normal stools. Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Take care Regards, Dr Olgeta Xhufka, General & Family Physician
