Suggest Treatment For Severe Upper Abdominal Pain And Vomiting
The upper part of my stomach is aching. The ache spreads downward then disappears. It comes back a little later. I can hear some kind of thunder-like sound inside my stomach after the wave of pain. I have a feeling of salivating when the pain strikes, and also a feeling of vomiting. The pain is more likely to strike me at night but I also felt it at daytime. What do you think is wrong with me?
It is possible that the pain is due to GERD (gastroesophageal reflux) or gastritis or a peptic ulcer (occurs in the stomach).
The symptoms of these conditions are worse at night or early morning and they are associated with increased salivation and vomiting as well.
Diet changes and medication may help. Diet changes include: small frequent meals instead of large meals, reduced used of spicy/fried/acidic foods, waiting 2 hours after eating before laying down, weight loss of any excess weight. Medications such as Nexium, Prevacid, Prilosec.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Michelle Gibson James, General & Family Physician
