Suggest Treatment For Severe Strep Throat

Hi, I have severe strep throat! I ve been on amoxicillin for over 48 hours and still getting worse. They gave me two shots of another antibiotic and pain medicine 7 hours ago. I still can barely swallow. IT IS BEYOND PAINFUL! I also have extremely thick foamy spit. Is this ok?

Thanks for your query, i have gone through your query.
For the severe streptococcal throat infection, you can take a course of antibiotics preferably a combination of amoxycillin and metronidazole(if you are not allergic). You can take analgesic like diclofenac for the pain. Do saline gargling. Consult a ENT surgeon and get it evaluated. I hope i have answered your query. Take care.

General Surgeon Dr. T Chandrakant's  Response
Hi.
Thanks for your query.
The failure of the antibiotic and the presence of the thick foamy sputum with inability of swallowing is suggestive of a condition called Peritonsillitis.

I would advise you to see an ENT Consultant ASAP, as you may need a surgery to drain the infection if the medical management fails to contain the infection.
