Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi. I have been having issues with my knees. Over the past two years I have had pains in my knees. It started out once every few weeks but recently it has started hurting every other night. The only way I can describe this pain is as an ache . Some times it hurts worse then others. Last night it woke me out of a dead sleep. It was hurting in my right knee & my left ankle. Although that was the first time it had moved to my ankle. The pain reminds me of what it feels like when you lay like on your arm too long & it goes to sleep only way worse. It doesn t tingle, burn, swell, or turn red. I don t think it is an injury because it changes locations. Nothing on the internet matches what I am feeling. Do you have any idea what is going on with me?

General & Family Physician, Dr. Nishad BN's Response
Hi Thank you for asking HCM. I have gone through your query. Your problem can be due to uric acid arthropathy or arthritis. Doing blood test for uric acid and ESR will be helpful to rule out this. If there is high uric acid then restricting protein intake and taking medications like allopurinol will be helpful. If it is not that then a thorough examination with an orthopedician and X ray of joints involved might be needed. Taking over the counter NSAIDs like ibuprofen ( motrin ) and ice pack application can be done for now. Hope this may help you. Let me know if anything not clear. Thanks.
