Suggest Treatment For Severe Body Pain When Diagnosed With Plantar Fascia

I have been diagnosed with plantar fasciatis but the pain is in my arch with a hard knot in the center of my extremely high arch (Charcot, Marie, Tooth) and down the outside of my foot. No pain in my heal and the pain throughout the day. Could it be something else?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Since you have been diagnosed with Planter fascia, though you do not have heel pain at present, yet you should get it treated at the earliest. Your treating doctor will treat you with NSAIDS, corticosteroid injections, physical or shock wave therapy.

You may need brace or splint. Avoid wearing worn out shoes. Left untreated it may lead to complications like knee pain, pain in the back or body. Stay well hydrated to rule out Na, K depletion or hypoglycemia. Dehydration also causes severe body-ache. Take ORS, soups & juice.

Get physically examined to rue out any developing peripheral neuropathy. Nerve damage when left untreated leads to fibromyalgia. Get Nerve conduction tests & biopsy done. Get treated.

In the meantime take food rich in vitamin B6, B12, foilic acid & minerals. You can also take supplements.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K, General & Family Physician
