General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

Long term untreated GERD may lead to consequences. An endoscopy is needed to see esophagus macroscopically, take biopsy and to exclude any possible hiatal hernia as a cause of GERD which is resolved surgically. Together with Pantoprazole, your doctor may prescribe you an antacid.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
