Hi - I suffer from Tonsillitis and I took a very sore throat August 2013. I went onto work and thought that it would clear up. Unfortunately, it did not. I had it for 6 weeks until I could not take the pain any longer. I went tot my out of hours Doctor late at night as I thought my throat was about to close over. My right tonsil was swollen and I could barely breath with the pain. I was informed that I had sever Tonsilllitis. It was untreated and I had it for over 6 weeks. Now turned to Quinsy. It took 2 sets of anti-biotics and alot of painkillers to clear the infection. However, I have had a cought from October. I went to my GP 8 weeks ago and asked why the cough did not clear. I was told it was viral and could last for up to 8 months.
I'm becoming concerned about it now as it is quite annoying and now my sore throat has returned again.
I would appreciate your advice as I thought the cough would have cleared up by now.
you are having acute on chronic tonsillitis with one episode of quinsy. cough is because of the throat infection. once the infection subsides the cough will reduce. I would suggest you to undergo surgery for your tonsils.
