Suggest Treatment For Red Bruise On Leg With Little Puss

hi i bruised my leg and developed a large scab. The scab fell off in the bath after a week and a deepish hole was left in my leg about an inch across. I have been covering it in bandages and washing it 2x aday with tcp and putting savlon on the bandages that go across the would but it seems to be red and a tiny bit of yellow puss as developed. Not very much but a little. I am not keen on taking antibiotics. Am i giving my leg the right treatment? will it eventually heal with this regime?

Thanks for contacting health care magic.

As per your history and description you had an abrasion. If the wound is small there is no need to take a antibiotic. Antibiotic is only needed if the wound is large and oozing or painful.

You can just clean the lesion with soap and water and apply an antibiotic cream like povidone iodine.

With regards.
