Suggest Treatment For Recurrent Strep Throat

I had strept throat about 2 and a half weeks ago. I was prescribe penicillan. I was to break the 500 mg pill in half and take half at a time, 4 times a day. I took it for ten days and about 2 days later i felt the same symptoms reoccuring. So i had some antbiotics from having strept throat a previous time before this time. I took 6 more days worth of that, was off of it one day and started feeling the same sickness all.over again. So i went to the hospital thinking none of the antibiotics were working for the strept. My throat hurts severe and when.i.cough.it tastes and feels tge same. They told me i had stomatitis. Nowhere but my throatbhurts. Could this be true because i still feel like i have strept throat. Still having flu like symptoms. Will stomatitis do this to you?

Hi Dear,

As per your query you have symptoms of recurrent strep throat which seems to be due to bacterial infection of upper respiratory tract and due to increased susceptibility of body of getting infected.

Need not to worry. I would suggest you to

- Start with warm saline gargles and betadine gargles 3-4 times a day

- Take ibuprofen or acetaminophen for pain and relieve of any swelling.

- Avoid hot, sharp , spicy food substances.

- Take throat lozenges.

- Do warm saline rinses and avoid carbonated beverages.

Consult ENT specialist for proper diagnosis and rule out condition like strep throat and viral infection . Doctor may prescribe antibiotics along with decongestants and anti inflammatory.

Hope your concern has been resolved.

Best Wishes,
