Suggest Treatment For Prolapsed Uterus

Hi, I had a partial Hysterectomy Christmas Eve. My uterus was severely prolapsed. I am 53 and just started menopause a year ago, but still had spotting every 28 days, so not full menopause. My surgeons took out my uterus, tubes and cervix and left the ovaries and the urologist fixed something with a type of sling so I don't leak anymore as the prolapse was leaning against my urethra? Why is it better to have left the ovaries? will it help my menopause not be so strong?

OBGYN, Gynecologic Oncology 's  Response
Hello,

The ovaries continue to produce hormones that have many health benefits - these affect the circulatory and the metabolic systems, and the bone strength as well.

Unless the ovaries are diseased or there is a strong history that suggests that one could be at an increased risk of cancer of the ovaries, it is worth leaving them behind for the sake of these benefits to your health.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Sabina Hussain
