Suggest Treatment For Persistent Cough

I have had a cough that makes me bring up flem. I am currently under the care of a pulmonary doctor and an endocrinologist. For the cough I am using Flonase and a dialator prescribed by the pulmonary doctor. I am scheduled for an ultrasound biopsy for nodules on the thyroid. Not sure if these are related or not.

Hello,

Productive cough is not related to thyroid nodules. Ultrasound biopsy for thyroid nodules is done to:
1) Rule out cancer
2) Know the actual nature of the nodule
3) Cysts and fluid filled nodules can be identified by a biopsy.

Your cough medications won't interfere with biopsy. So, relax and go for ultrasound biopsy of thyroid nodules.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Pallavi M., Anesthesiologist
