Suggest Treatment For Painful Swollen Tonsils

I have a very swollen sore tonsil in the back of my throat, i was prescribed Erythromycin 6 days ago and there has been no improvement. Its painful to swallow in the mornings before i take paracetamol. I generally feel ok, im not tired but i do sometimes get headaches at work. If the antibiotics dont work by wednesday i will return to the doctor and seek more help. Any ideas what could be wrong?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I read carefully your query and understand your concern.

The symptoms seem to be related to tonsillitis which is an inflammation of the to tonsils.
I suggest to continue using the antibiotics as prescribed by your doctor.
I also suggest using anti inflammatory medications such as Acetaminophen to relieve the inflammation.
Gargling with salty water can be helpful.

Hope my answer was helpful.

If you have further queries feel free to contact me again.

Kind regards!
