Suggest Treatment For Painful Abdominal Wall Abscess

Hi, may I answer your health queries right now ? Please type your query here...My father underwent sigmoid colectomy for diverticular disease in 2006 and again swelling on abdominal walls on 2010 , found 8x6x4 cm collection on the left anterior abdominal wall. underwent laparotomy and drainage of large abdominal wall abscess pressing on the small bowl. now again he got pain on the same area. could you pls guide me further. thanks

looking into the history that you have given it probably arose due to an infective pathology last time . this time around u need to first confirm whether it is an abscess or not. does he have a history of fever lately? u should get an usg abdomen and to add to it a complete blood profile to detect infection. if the swelling if is small n the TLC are not raised much u can start with antibiotic course for a period of one week or else if D swelling is big or the antibiotic regime fails then drainage would be the option left.
