Suggest Treatment For Pain While On An ICD Implant

I have a close friend who had an ICD implanted in April 2010 and suffers horrible pain 24 hours a day with it. The implant moves around and the wires are coming around the box and the pain is awful for him. No one seems to care about it and just keeps giving him meds. What can he do

Hi There

First of all the implant is not supposed to move around and if its doing so and there is pain also then it needs to be evaluated for any implant pocket infection that could have happened causing pain. If there any episodes of fever? If yes then probably the ICD pocket has got infected. In these cases the device has to be taken out from its location and needs to be implanted somewhere else.
Kindly visit a cardiologist and get it evaluated.

I wish him good health
