Suggest Treatment For Pain In The Ball Of My Feet

Hi, during track season, my big toe began to hurt. I felt a dull pain in the ball of my foot and it increased as i ran more. I am a distance runner and put in around 60 miles a week .I did some research and found out that it may have been sesamoiditis so i took the recomended treatment and took some time off from running. It came back, only worse this time and now the toe right next to my big toe has a very sharp pain in it. No bruising is visible and it does not seem to be inflammed. I am curious as to what could be wrong and what possible treatments there are.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

* Possible issue with ligament ( anterior talofibular or else ) sprain or strain is most likely responsible for the pain in the ball of the foot.

Though primary measures as a heating pad, analgesic spray and medications will give partial relief, in my clinic, I do recommend an MRI of the leg for best evaluation of fine tissue anatomical details and cure it a best possible way for your bright running career.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
