Suggest Treatment For Pain And Soreness On The Tongue

I woke up last Sunday morning and noticed that the underneath part of my tongue was sore to the touch, near the apex. I felt it and could feel or see anything irregular. A few hours later a knot or bump popped up on the inside of my tongue on the right side and half way to the base of my tongue. ( not really near the apex.. You cant see it from the outside but can definitely feel a bean shaped and sized knot feeling growth. No pain until I touch or squeeze it. So, Monday I wake up for work and there is another bump under the apex. where I originally had felt the soreness. I am going to the doctors in two days but this is strange.

Hi...
Thanks for the query..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns...

As per your complain it seems like a mucocele which is formed either due to clogged duct of the minor salivary gland or rupture in the duct of the gland leading to formation of a bump due to accumulation of mucous into soft tissues.
It forms a painless bump and it is mostly self limiting and resolves on its own.
You can do concentrated salt water rinses..
If still it does not resolve in one month you will have to get it removed surgically..

Another cause can be initiation of apthous ulcers or canker sores and initially there can be bumps which gradually ulcerate..

The exact cause can be confirmed only after a clinical examination and can be treated accordingly..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
