Hello,

There might be several reasons for eye pain a few common causes might be:

1) Any refractive error which cause him to strain a lot and as a result cause eye pain.
2) A serious condition called glaucoma which may be easily treated if caught in the earlier stages. The eye pain is due to an increase in the pressure of the eye.
3) It may be migraine itself which is also accompanied by eye pain.
4) Lack of sleep or stress.

I would suggest you visit an eye specialist to diagnose the cause accurately.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. M. Shahbaz
