Suggest Treatment For One Sided Sore Throat

I have had a sore throat, mainly on one side on and off for about a week and a half. I do not feel sick, but I have had a little post nasal drip causing me to clear my throat. I have gargled with warm water and salt which usually clears up my sore throat pretty quickly. It goes away for a day or two but comes back. It does feel better when I take ibuprofen. I am female, 46 years old.

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of one sided sore throat which seems to be mainly due to tonsil infection, bacterial infection, and poor oral hygiene leading to strep throat. Need not to worry. I would suggest you take ibuprofen and proper course of antibiotics. Avoid hot sharp and spicy food substances. You should take anti inflammatory medications as well. Consult ENT specialist for proper examination. Doctor may order blood test or throat swab test to confirm the diagnosis. Do warm saline rinses several times a day. Avoid intake of cold beverages and take steam inhalation.

Hope your concern has been resolved.

Best Wishes,
