Suggest Treatment For Numbness In The Upper Lip Post An Oral Surgery

I had oral surgery about a year and nine months ago for dentures due to the doctors recommendation, my teeth were in really bad shape. A four tooth bridge became badly infected not to mention broken off crowns and cavities in all but one or two teeth that were left. the price tag on restoration was not possible not to mention i have soft teeth. the recommendation was for my health. Problem, I am still experiencing an unbalanced smile as well as numbness in the left upper lip. I realize it can take up to a year and a half. I have been patient but is it going to stay like this.......?a numb upper lip partially into the left side of my nose.

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain it seems that during Oral surgery there has been injury to the nerve fibres and due to it there is numbing of the part of lip which is probably due to traumatised nerve on the left side..

It can take from a few weeks to even months or years for it to resolve..

I would suggest you to consult a Neurophysician and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations like MRI Scan can help in diagnosis and treatment can be done accordingly..

As of now do alternate warm and cool compresses over the lip and also take Vitamin B complex supplements...

Hope this helps..

Regards.
