Suggest Treatment For Nabothian Cyst In The Uterus

I am scheduled for the removal of 2 walnut sized nabothin cyst. This is to be done in a procedure room with no type of sedative. Should I ask if a sedative should be given? I wasn t sure if there was a lot of pain receptors on the cervix. Also should I ask for bx. Of the uterus be done for fear of cancer that has been unnoticed by these cyst?

Hello,
I have gone through your query and understood the concern. The need for sedation/anesthesia depends on the type of procedure being performed to relieve the nabothian cyst. If it is only cryotherapy, you do not usually need any sedation, but, if it is excision or draining or electrocautery, you may need some pain relief procedure prior to the surgery. The cysts are not premalignant, so biopsy is usually not needed. It is left to your surgeon's discretion at the time of the procedure. Hope you find this information helpful. Take care.
