Suggest Treatment For Multinodular Goiter

Just diagnosed with multinodular goitre 5-6times normal size but told thyroid tests are borderline hyperactive. Awaiting CT scan as ultrasound inconclusive. current advise from consultant is possibly to watch & retest in 6 months or consider radioactive iodine treatment but seemed reluctant re the later. Would you have any thoughts re this? Appointment in 6 weeks after CT & further blood work.

Endocrinologist 's  Response
Hello and thank you for asking!
I have gone carefully through your concern.
I would suggest thyroidectomy if the goiter is so big and you have symptoms of compression (difficulty in swallowing or breathing).
Radioactive iodine is another variant but it is not sure rather the goiter will shrink and malignancy should be excluded before.
Hope i have been helpful.
Kind regards,
dr.Mirjeta
