Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am a 4 year survivor of Stage 3 Squamous Cell Carcinoma of the Esophagus. Yesterday I noticed a hard knot/lump on my right clavicle, just below the neck. I have no pain in that spot. I just noticed the marble sized knot. It is very hard. I have been diagnosed with osteopenia so am wondering if that could be the cause of this spur(?)? Any information you can offer would be most appreciated. Thank you.
Hi Welcome to HCM. I appreciate your concern the lump over the right clavicle.
The picture you describe is consistent with the right supravicular (above the clavicle) lymphnode enlargement due to Stage 3 Carcinoma of the esophagus.
The enlarged right supraclavicular node appears to be due to spreading cancer from the esophagus. Two currently available treatment options for stage III esophageal cancer:
1. Chemotherapy and radiation therapy before surgery or 2. Chemotherapy and radiation therapy without surgery
You are advised to consult your treating oncologist for proper evaluation and further management.
Hope this answers your query. Wishing you best of your health. Rate this answer, if you are convinced.
