Hello thanks for asking from HCM for your health related queries
I can understand your concern. It appears that you have inadvertently punctured the vein and this has resulted in localised collection of drug and subsequent inflammation at the site. This has complicated to thrombophlebitis. The redness, tenderness and lump is probably due to this only. Please apply ice over affected part and dont try to rub the affected area. If your pain is intolerable then medicines like Diclofenac or Ibuprofen can help. These medicines will reduce the redness and edema. Consult a doctor before taking these drugs.
For relief of local symptoms apply heparin containing creams like Thrombophobe and this will help to reduce the oedema. Consult a doctor if you develop fever or symptoms persist.
Try to avoid injecting the drug in future and don't do the drugs in future as this may cause effects on your health. I hope you will follow my advise.
