Suggest Treatment For Lightheadedness And Chest Pain

Hi my 12 year old son is complaining of having pains in the middle of his chest and feeling light headed. These pains and light head symptoms come and go. I had him at the doctors yesterday and she said all sounded clear - he has slight asthma - but she wanted me to go to A&E to get the chest looked at. In 2012 I had him at A&E for chest pains and headaches, he had bloods / xray & ecg taken - all clear. The hospital said it was more likely to be abdominal migranes. I think myself it is stress. He is always saying he is sick as he does not like his teacher. I have explained that teacher is there to teach. I have been up to his teacher and discussed matters with her - my son is not aware of this meeting. Should i be worried about the chest pains?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi, thank you for asking Healthcare magic.
I have gone through your query and understood your concerns. With this presentation, I would think it could be gastritis or Gastro-esophageal reflux disease (GERD). If I were his treating doctor, I would ask for a laboratory test for some causes of gastritis (H. pylori test) or place the boy on antacids and another drug like ranitidine, cimetidine or omeprazole. Also, some lifestyle changes could be of use. These include avoiding fatty foods, caffeine-containing foods, spicy foods and pepper.

I hope that answers your query. If you have more questions or any follow up query do not hesitate to write to us.
I wish him well
