Suggest Treatment For Jaundice Based On The Below Bilirubin Values

Hi sir/ ma m My brother is under treatment for jaundice. When he got admitted the values were , TOTAL BILIRUBIN- 7.6 SGOT- 950 SGPT - 900. But after three to four days of treatment no signs of improvement have been observed. Today s reports - TOTAL BILIRUBIN 12.5 , SGOT - 1700 SGPT - 1750. Please suggest what actions should be taken.

It seems most likely from viral hepatitis leading hepatocellular jaundice

For this condition your child should be admitted into hospital and investigation needed with....
_urine urobilinogen and bile pigment estimation
_CBC and reticulocyte count
_Hbsag ELISA, HCV ELISA, HAV ELISA testing
_USG abdomen

Your child can be prescribed udiliv tablet or syrup

Give him low fat diet

Fruits juices given more

Sugar cane juice, Apple juice can be consumed more

he probably has an acute hepatitis and has to be treated. Usually it takes some days even weeks to for liver enzymes to normalise. The treatment depend on the type of virus.
