Hallow Dear,

Usually clitoral itching is due to either yeast or trichomonal infection of the vagina. Both these infections can be caused by sexual route though yeast infection can infect by commode use also. Also both these infections will cause vaginal discharge. This vaginal discharge causes itching all over the vulva also.

Trichomonal discharge is greenish white and frothy in nature while the Monalial (yeast) discharge is white flaky one.

Metronidazole can cure Trichomonal infections while anti-fungal medicines - oral or local - will treat yeast infection. Along with these medicines please put Lactobacilli ovules in the vagina and/or use Lactacyd perineal wash.

Along with the medicines, please follow the instructions:

1. Since these infections are transmitted sexually, the instructions should be followed by both the partners and get the treatment simultaneously irrespective of the symptoms.
2. Till both the partners are declared cured completely and the treatment is over, sexual abstinence should be observed.
3. Shave the private parts clean.
4. Clip the nails short.
5. Boil underwear daily.
6. Use panty liners (for you).
7. Avoid use of soap over the private parts.

Please report to a Gynaecologist for per vaginal examination to diagnose the presence and type vaginal discharge. May be some other bacterial infection also can cause such itching which can be treated by local or systemic antibiotics.

Local application of camphor will minimize the itching.

I hope this helps you.
