Suggest Treatment For Insomnia

Hello, thank you again for your helpful information. Although I have a myriad of health issues that I would love to discuss, I just have one last. At the same time that I started having the recently discussed issues I also started having insomnia soooo bad. And when I do sleep (which is only maybe 1 or 1 1/2 at a time) I have the worst nightmares. Is this related to Imuran as well or maybe still withdrawal from amitriptyline and sleeping pills? Thank you and I'm quite sure Ill be "accepting" after this.

Psychiatrist 's  Response
Hi.

I had gone through your query.

Insomnia or sleep problem suggest psychological stress or illness.Insomnia is core feature of any psychological disorder.

Proper mental status examination are advisable to reach root cause of insomnia.

Amitriptiline is anti depressant and occasional it may lead to withdrawal symptoms like insomnia.

So there are other medicines which can be useful to treat insomnia.

So i would like to treat it with mild dose of SSRI and benzodiazapine in my patients.

So consult psychiatrist and get help.

Glad to answer you.

Thank you.
