Suggest Treatment For Inflamed Benign Lingual Tonsils And Inflamed Sinuses

For nearly a year, I have suffered from inflamed lingual tonsils. I ve had 8 Laryngoscopy exams. Biopsy performed, they were benign. I ve taken numerous medications but nothing has reduced their size and chronic pain (feels like strep throat, extremely painful.) Told I have GERD and inflamed sinuses - both affecting lingual tonsils and contributing to inflammation. Doctors want me to purchase equipment for sleep apnea but I sleep fine. Where do I go from here?

Pathologist and Microbiologist 's  Response
Hello,

GERD may be the cause of inflamed lingual tonsils. I suggest you to consult a gastroenterologist for clinical assessment and endoscopy of esophagus and stomach to look for the cause of GERD. Treatment of GERD will help to reduce the inflammation of tonsils. Inflammation of sinuses may be due to inflammation of tonsils.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shailja Puri, Pathologist and Microbiologist
