I have glaucoma due to a childhood injury. My pressure is us and my vision is blurred so I've been put one 3 different drops; One drop of Timolol in the AM, Simbrinza 2 times a day and one drop of Lantanoprost at bedtime. The Timolol is soothing and feels good, the Simbrinza burns and makes my eye itchy, red and painful, and the Lantanoprost at bedtime is a cooling relief. How can we possible know which one works when throwing all three at this poor eye all at once? Could I be allergic to the Simrinza?
Hi.. welcome to HCM. . Ideally the drops should be put one at a time and if the IOP is not controlled another should be added. But sometimes when the doctor is sure that one won't work he/she may start with combination and later on any one drug can be withdrawn depending on the response. coming to the second part, the drugs contained in the simbrinza drops can cause irritation and redness initially.. gradually it comes down.. If it doesn't, your doctor may think of stopping the drug.. In the meanwhile you can use some artificial tear drops for relief. keep consulting your ophthalmologist regularly which is very important in case of glaucoma. Hope this information is helpful to you. Will be available for further queries. . take care. .
