Suggest Treatment For Glandular Fever, Jaundice, Enlarged Spleen And Liver

I have recently been diagnosed with glandular fever . I spent a week in hospital on penicillin as I was admitted with jaundice and an enlarged spleen and liver , while there I had a very light period which lasted two days . My normal periods are heavy and last up to a week .. It has been 30+ days since I had the light period and am concerned that it may be an issue . I am a virgin . Could the goandular fever have caused this or the penicillin? Thanks.

Hello,

You have history of having glandular fever and was treated in the hospital. Presently, you are suffering from jaundice, enlarged spleen and liver. You are also having delay in getting periods. You are a virgin. Delay in periods is commonly due to poor general health, anemia, stress, loss of weight, thyroid issues, POI, PCOS, etc. Do not take stress, once you recover from your illness you will get your periods.

Take nutritious home made food that is boiled. Avoid oily, fried food, trans fat, refined flour, red meat, full fat dairy products, etc. Take boiled water after cooling it. Take well cooked whole cereals, veggies, fruits, lean meat. Take liver tonics and enzymes to help better digestion and faster healing of the liver. Stay on strict diet control & take at least 8 hours of quality sleep.

Get a follow up clinical examination done by your treating doctor, get repeat liver function tests, blood works and imaging tests done. Your test reports should come normal. Stay at rest and get treated for the cause that caused enlarged spleen. Take small portion of food multiple times a day. Stay away from addictions if any.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
