Hello,

Fluctuating blood pressure is commonly due to stress, tobacco smoking, alcohol & caffeine, lack of exercise, weight gain. Medications like calcium channel blockers, beta blockers, angiotension-receptor blockers, diuretics do help monitor blood pressure but healthy lifestyle changes should be done so that you are not dependent on medications.

Limit the salt intake but you should take the optimum amount, take grains, fruits & veggies, low fat diet, oatmeal, olive oil, nuts, legumes, lean meat, omega -3 fatty acid, fish & dark chocolates. Get lipid function tests, ecg, echo if required CT & MRI done to evaluate the factor causing the pathology. Get treated at the earliest. Your treatment will depend upon the pathology detected.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K,
