Hallow Dear,

Your history is suggestive of some infection. Since you are getting fever with shivering, you are most likely having either urinary infection or Malaria.

Please get your urine examined from the laboratory. If it shows pus cells and/or red cells, it is urinary infection. Then get the urine examined for culture and sensitivity which will identify the causative organisms and the antibiotics to which they are sensitive. Accordingly the treatment may be started. Please drink plenty of water - if possible, barley water.

Also get your blood examined (thick smear) for malaria. Accordingly you may have to take antimalarial treatment.

Possibility of genital infection should be kept in mind. Are you having any foul smelling vaginal discharge? Since you are in immediate post partum period, possibility of post partum sepsis should be ruled out. If such discharge is there, you can submit the discharge for culture and sensitivity. Accordingly suitable antibiotics will have too be started. The cause for such infection, like remained products in the uterine cavity, tear in the vagina, etc. will have to identified and managed.

Please report to your Gynaecologist ASAP.

Hi there,
Let me answer your question.

I will suggest you to get hemogram and urine routine examination done

Please check that your breasts are engorged or not. Try to empty the breast after baby's feeding is over.

Urinary tract infection or breast engorgement can lead to fever.

I will suggest Tab Amoxy Clav 625 mg twice a day for 5 days. This will be helpful and will not be harmful even if you are breastfeeding the baby.

I hope this answer helps you.
Thanks.
