Suggest Treatment For Fatigue, Oversleep, Elbow Pain And Muscle Cramps

I am a veteran and familiar with writings about the Gulf War Syndrome. I have never been diagnosed with this. However, I am experiencing excessive fatigue and sleeping constantly mostly after eating. I have mild shoulder pain (both) I try to sleep on my back, left elbow pain, and constant muscle cramps in my calf muscles or thighs. Slight headaches and brief dizziness upon awakening. My most recent health screening was about 90 days ago with just minimal high blood pressure and borderline diabetes for monitoring.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Excessive sleeping is often associated with sleep disorders, narcolepsy, psychiatric symptoms, sleep apnea or sleep deprivation. Treatment includes quitting addictions (smoking/alcohol, etc), exercise regularly, adopt better sleeping habits(stop working on mobile/computers few hours before sleep). Consult a Psychiatrist, you may need antidepressants or cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT).

For pain, take pain medications like Combiflam or Acetaminophen for relieve. Chronic fatigue syndrome or fibromyalgia cause pain in the body & fatigue. Take multivitamin supplement along with vitamin E rich food. Stay active, take adequate sleep. Maintain strength & flexibility of the muscles by exercising, walking, swimming reduces body ache. Maintain proper diet & maintain healthy weight. However, you are suggested to get clinically examined & get the required investigations done to rule out any pathology causing you discomfort.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K, General & Family Physician
